Terms of Service

Agreement and eligibility

By creating an account, starting a trial, purchasing a plan, or using Byleron One, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Notice. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into this agreement. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

The service

Byleron One is web-based qualitative data-analysis software. It supports source organisation, coding, memos, visual and analytical outputs, Results Builder, collaboration, project exchange, and optional AI assistance. Features and capacity depend on your active plan.

Accounts, research material, and acceptable use

Keep your account credentials secure and provide accurate account information. You are responsible for your sources, coding, outputs, and the people you invite into a shared project. You must have the necessary rights, permissions, lawful basis, participant information, and approvals to upload, process, share, export, or send material to AI features. Do not use the service unlawfully, to infringe the rights of others, to upload malware, to interfere with the service, or to attempt unauthorised access.

Ownership and deletion

You retain rights in the research material and outputs you create, subject to rights you grant to us only as necessary to operate the service. You can delete projects from the workspace and may request account deletion through Contact Support. Export a backup before deleting a project or changing to a plan with lower capacity.

Plans, trials, cancellation, downgrades, and refunds

Eligible paid plans include a 7-day free trial and require a payment card. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the selected recurring plan begins and is charged. Cancellation stops the next recurring charge; access and remaining allowance continue until the current billing date. A downgrade takes effect at the next billing date, so the current plan continues for the rest of its paid period. Refund requests made within 7 days of payment may be submitted through Contact Support using the Refund request topic. Institution arrangements, including invoicing, are agreed directly with us.

AI assistance

AI features are optional and researcher-controlled. You are responsible for reviewing AI outputs and determining whether they are appropriate for your work. Read the AI Use Disclosure before using AI features with research material.

Availability and suspension

We aim to provide a reliable service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. We may maintain, modify, suspend, or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. We may suspend access to protect the service, comply with law, address non-payment, or respond to a material breach of these Terms.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties that it will meet every research, institutional, publication, or regulatory requirement. You remain responsible for research decisions, ethical compliance, data protection, methodology, and review of all outputs.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. The courts of the United Kingdom have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights that apply to you.

We aim to respond to support and refund requests within 10 business days.

Changes

We may update these Terms when the service, law, or our operations change. Continued use after an updated version takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, unless applicable law requires a different process.
